Chief Executive Officer
Spring through to Fall 40 hour per week: Winter 35 hours per week
$30 per hour (depending on experience)
Fix and service many kinds of boats. Repair, re build and maintain boats with outboard motors, which run on gasoline and inboard motors, which run on diesel fuel which are usually found in cabin cruisers and larger fishing boats. In other shops mechanics have many duties, such as patching and painting hulls.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair sail and power boats .
- Work on motors, propellers, and other boat moving parts.
- Replace ignition points, adjust valves, and clean carburetors.
- Using diagnostic equipment, to test and repair boat engines, hulls, propellers, rigging, masts, sails, and navigational equipment.
- Install and test sanitation and electrical and engine driven refrigeration systems, cabinetry, electrical systems, steering gear, and accessories.
- Install and maintain marine toilet systems
- Repair and maintain plumbing
- Repair and maintain diesel engines
- Repair outboard engines
- Repair, replace vessel rigging systems
- Assist with vessel haul outs and scraping and painting of vessel hulls
- Diagnose engine problems.
- Take on other responsibilities as directed by management
- Performs major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair work on gasoline and marine engines, outboard motors, and related marine equipment and systems using schematic charts and technical manuals.
- Establishes and maintains a preventive maintenance program for marine engines and related marine research equipment.
- Tests marine engines and equipment to determine need for repairs or adjustments.
- Repairs and maintains hydraulic equipment and valves.
- Operates hand and power tools associated with marine engine and equipment repair.
- Assists in fabrication of equipment.
- Purchases parts and supplies.
- Writes specifications for and recommends purchase of marine equipment.
- Team player with good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Able to contribute to a quality work team environment
- Good organizational skills
- Journey person marine mechanic
- Certificate or diploma in related field e.g. Diesel Marine repair
- Minimum 5 years experience post formal qualification in marine industry, e.g marine shop, yacht repairs or Charter Company
