Sidney is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island on the Saanich Peninsula - just a 20 minute drive from downtown Victoria. With prevailing westerly ocean winds moderating both summer and winter temperatures, 3.6 kilometres of waterfront and many wonderful activities to explore including: whale watching and a 420 ft. Fishing Pier with a thriving marine life Artificial Reef, this little waterfront town offers many water related activities.
The pedestrian friendly downtown offers an excellent variety of stores, specialty shops and street statues and murals. The town’s restaurants offer a diverse assortment of excellent meals and cater to all tastes.
The Saanich Peninsula encompasses the area just north of Greater Victoria, all the way to Deep Cove and Swartz Bay. Sidney and Brentwood Bay are the two largest communities on this semi rural peninsula.
The community of Brentwood Bay overlooks the Saanich Inlet and has some great restaurants and shops, a pretty marina, and a BC Ferries terminal providing service to Mill Bay in the Cowichan region. Brentwood Bay boasts one of the South Island region's most famous attractions: Butchart Gardens. These splendid, world-renowned gardens have been drawing visitors to the region since 1904 and have recently been designated a national historic site.
